Q: How do I get around this site?
A: If you want to go to an area on the site, click the buttons on the right hand side with the mouse to go there.

To get back to the start pages at any time click on the Home. The start page is known as the homepage.

If you can go to another section of the site via a link in the text, the text will change colour and the mouse pointer will change to a hand. If you click with the mouse on this section of text it will take you to more information on that topic.

Don’t worry if you go to the wrong page, if you click on Back on the Buttons bar in Internet Explorer, or View > Go to > Back. You can do this again and again, until you get back to where you want to be.

Anywhere your pointer looks like a hand rather than an arrow or I then it means you can click and go somewhere else on the site (you may not want to!)

Q: How do I change my screen settings?
A: This site looks best with a screen resolution (the size of what is shown) of 800 x 600. To change this on a PC running the Windows 95 and upwards operating system, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings and change the desktop area by using the sliding bar. On an Apple Macintosh, you can use the Monitor & Sound Control Panel to change the resolution.

Q: How do I get back to this site if I leave it?
A: The address of our site is http://towardstomorrowscountryside.co.uk. If you want to come back to this site at any time, you can type in the address in the address bar and then press return on your keyboard. A good idea to save you doing this more than once, is to add this page to your favourites (in Internet Explorer click on Favourite > add to favourites > then name the page something that you will remember like “Towards Tomorrow’s Countryside site”). If you are using Netscape Navigator – go to Bookmarks. This works like Favourites.

Q: Do all sites work the same?
A: Every site will have a unique URL (website address), and you will be able to navigate (move around the site) by using the mouse to click on buttons or icons and linked text. However, some sites are a lot more sophisticated than others, and may require you to have a recent version of your browser (the application that allows you to view web pages). You may also need plugins (a bit of program that plugs in to the browser and lets it open different files – for example Real audio and Shockwave.) Towards Tomorrrow`s Countryside have tried to limit our use of plugins, so that the information that we have included is accessible to as many people as possible.

Q: Why do some funny symbols come up on this site?
A: These could be icons that represent an image that is being downloaded by your computer, or it could be part of the site that you can’t see because you don’t have the right plugins.

Q: Why do some sections on some sites take ages to load?
A: This could be because the file sizes are large – for example, complex pictures. It could also be because your connection to the Internet is slow, or because there are a lot of people looking at our site, which means that our computer is working hard – so be patient!! Or try again later, when the internet is quieter – and there are less users surfing.
